Official Rules – Largest
Simultaneous Dog Stay
PetFunFest – February 13/14, 2010
The record for the largest simultaneous dog stay is based on the number of dogs who ‘stay’ successfully for 2 minutes.
1) A ‘stay’ means the dog can either be sitting or lying down in the upright position, i.e not on its side or back.
2) The ‘stay’ should last for 2 minutes exactly.
3) Verbal commands from the handler are allowed throughout the attempt.
4) The handler is not allowed to touch the dog once timing has started. The handler will stand slightly away from the dog, to help the witnesses see that they are not touching the animal.
5) Every dog will be on a leash during the attempt. The leash must clearly be slack throughout the 2 minutes of the attempt. The slack leash must be visible to the observers.
6) If any dog stands up or changes location during the 2 minutes, they will not be counted in the record attempt. ONLY the dogs who successfully stay for the 2 minutes will count.
7) If the dog changes from a sit to a lying position, or lying to a sitting position, during the 2 mins, this will still count, as long as the dog does not change location in between. The dog must remain on the same spot.
8) Station Captains will be watching the dogs the whole time and will record the number of successful stays.
